Originally from California, now based in Brooklyn, electro-popsters Class Actress have added more than a little French touch to their latest record, Rapprocher. They decided to come to Paris to shoot the video for their latest single “Bienvenue,” so we thought we would welcome them by giving them access to our rooftop terrace and its views across the city. Bravo Class Actress and à bientôt!

Rough Trade, the cult record label and shop from London, is bringing its Winter collection to Paris from 10-17 December. For one week only, Rough Trade have opened a pop-up store in agnès b femmes on rue du Jour. The shop includes Rough Trade’s best albums of 2011, their selection of the best new music on vinyl and CD as well as Christmas gifts and stocking fillers. There will also be daily events in the space including a DJ set by London’s SBTRKT and an afternoon of tea and music hosted by Ed Banger records. Earlier this year BETC brought some of France to London when it opened a new agency in London. A few months later the English capital is getting its very own Eiffel Tower… For the 2012 London Olympics the sculptor Anish Kapoor has designed a 35-story high sculpture, the Orbit, which stands next to the main Olympic Stadium and could become a major London landmark.

The famous U.S. music site Pitchfork has become the reference for new music of all kinds. Having organized several festivals in its native Chicago, Pitchfork has decided to launch its first festival abroad at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris on 28 and 29 October 2011. With Bon Iver, Lykke Li, Four Tet, Erol Alkan and many others, Pitchfork Paris promises to be one of the musical highlights of 2011.

Earlier this year, the French street artist JR, won the prestigious TED prize for his INSIDE OUT project. This “large-scale participatory art project” aims to transform messages of personal identity into pieces of art. The project website lets you upload a black-and-white portrait which is then sent back to you as a poster to stick up wherever you choose. The site shows a map of the world with all the posters that have been put up so far.

A new venue has just opened in Paris’s Théatre de la Gaîté. The Gaîté Lyrique is devoted to exploring the digital world in all of its different forms: music, film, animation, theatre, dance, visual arts, design, graphic design, motion design, architecture, software programming, coding, web, gaming, fashion, etc. through concerts, talks, projections and conferences… a description that is right up our street. This summer, skate culture is centre stage with a series of concerts and events, including a talk with the director Spike Jonze. Public Domaine is on from 18 June to 7 August.

With pieces in over 40 cities all over the world and a big appearance in the recent documentary Exit through the gift shop, by the famous English street artist Banksy, Space Invader has become one of the most important figures in the street art movement. Invader brought one of the first video games of the 1970s back to life and brought its pixelized characters into the streets. He decided to carry out his thousandth invasion in his native Paris to open the first retrospective exhibition of his career. The exhibition is on at La Générale (14 avenue Parmentier, 75011, Paris), until 2 July 2011.
